Lotte: German Anthropologist
Backpacking through Indonesia, Thailand and Nepal shaped my childhood and aroused my interest in other cultures early on. After graduating from high school, I traveled through Latin America for a year, where I met my husband in Peru. I studied cultural anthropology in Freiburg. I am enthusiastic about the land and its people and the incredible natural diversity of La Palma. In addition to my hikes all over the island, I also take care of the company’s correspondence, organization and logistics. As a certified hiking guide for the Canary Islands, I am authorized to offer tours in German, Spanish, English and French.
Janin: Geographer from the Odenwald
Parallel to my geography studies, I discovered my love of nature and worked for many years as a geopark ranger in environmental education. I really enjoy teaching scientific topics in a simple and interesting way, being active in nature with guests and discovering its secrets together. After spending a few hiking holidays on La Palma, I decided to live here permanently in 2020. The diverse impressions in a small area and the immense beauty of this island fascinate me again and again! The best conditions for exciting and inspiring hiking tours!
Carina: in the office
The fairy tale town of the Pied Piper of Hamelin (Germany) is where I was born and after finishing my studies one could say I „followed the piper`s call“ to exlore the world: Starting with discovering the neighbouring BeNeLux-Countries, the islands of Great Britain and Ireland. When Europe became small to me and my occupations as research assistant of the European Parliament and freelance journalist for the German Presse Agency had ended I spread my wings wider and took a trip around the world. For family reasons, I finally settled in Thuringia (Germany) with my own travel agency, which braught me to the Baltic Sea at the turn of the millennium.
However, Covid epidemic made my travel business collapse and when finally I felt down-to-earth again I booked myself a holiday to the Canary Island of La Palma! And there I am – since 2020 I spend most of the year living on the „Isla Bonita“ – I love the landscape, the sea, the climate, the people who live and work here. Now it`s up to you to discover this wonderful island. I love welcoming guests from all over the world and will help you find the best hikes La Palma has to offer! From November until April we welcome you from 10:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in our outdoor office in the courtyard of the Valle Verde Outdoor shop in Los Llanos. And if you join us for a hike you receive a 10% discount on the high-quality hiking gear sold at Valle Verde.
“Graja Tours” is a small family business that has been offering personal hikes in small groups on La Palma for almost 20 years under the motto “Hiking with friends”. In addition to the permanent team, we also have occasional support from independent guides. We all love La Palma, its diverse nature and the friendliness of its inhabitants and look forward to sharing our enthusiasm for the island with you.
